What If I Start the Job With an Argument About Salary?

Before you talk anything about your salary, first you have to understand the value of your job. Then you can take time to think and talk about the salaries. The first and foremost duty is to understand if a job is realistic and reasonable.

When you talk about the salary part, you have to be very patient. If you are asked about your salary requirements, try to say that they are open. Tell them that you are more interested about your job role and responsibilities. They may be impressed by your approach. Another option can be that you mention about the salary range that you need. Once you are selected there is no need to accept the offer right at that moment. You can go for “I need to think it over” option. And if you are in two minds, a “no” can get a better offer to you.

If you are at present working somewhere and seeking better opportunities, begin by being fully prepared. Equip yourself with your salary survey information and current performance appraisals. Some of the employers may have their budget constraints. Be clear and confident of what you want.
